Congress's DK Shivakumar tests positive for coronavirus

DK Shivakumar, Karnataka Congress state president, has tested positive for coronavirus. DK Shivakumar has been admitted to a private hospital in Bengaluru, Karnataka after his test results to detect coronavirus came as positive.

Earlier in August, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had tested positive for coronavirus and was hospitalized as a precautionary measure. Yediyurappa informed on Twitter that he had tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Yediyurappa requested all those who came in contact with him recently to "be observant" and exercise self-quarantine. The 77-year-old chief minister was admitted to Manipal Hospital, Bengaluru.

"I have tested positive for coronavirus. Whilst I am fine, I am being hospitalized as a precaution on the recommendation of doctors. I request those who have come in contact with me recently to be observant and exercise self-quarantine," Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa tweeted.

In the past 24 hours, Karnataka has reported 5,851 fresh Covid-19 positive cases and 130 patients have succumbed to the infection. Karnataka currently has 81,230 active cases and 197,625 recoveries.
