Congress led Kerala opposition hits out with "Go Back "blocking Governor speech over CAA
On Wednesday Congress led opposition MLAs blocked Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan’s path as he arrived at the state assembly and asked that he be recalled.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Governor Arif Khan was met by a crowd of Sloganeering United Democratic Front MLAs. They held placards with messages such as “Call Back Governor” and “We the people India Resist CAA” and blocked his path to the podium.
Kerala was the first state to pass a state assembly resolution against the CAA, short for Citizenship Amendment Act and even challenged the law in the Supreme Court.
The anti-CAA resolution was one short of a unanimous vote; the ruling Left and the LDF both oppose the law. The lone MLA supporting it was from the BJP.
As MLAs stood in his way on Wednesday, Governor Arif Mohammad Khan stood and waited patiently with a hint of a smile. Right next to him, Chief Minister Vijayan appeared to gesture to them to make way.
