Blind woman raped in Bhopal during lockdown, husband stranded in Rajasthan
A blind woman was raped early on Friday morning in Bhopal's Shahpura area while her husband was stranded in Rajasthan due to the ongoing nationwide shutdown.
The woman, 53, is a bank officer.
The suspect entered her room through a balcony. He took her phone after raping her and locked the door from outside.
The woman began shouting, and neighbors opened the door. When she told them what had happened, they alerted the police.
The victim said she had left the balcony door open to avoid suffocation.
The balcony, located on the second floor, is attached to the stairs, said ASP Sanjay Sahu, explaining how the suspect may have gained access to it.
A rape case has been registered and an investigation is ongoing
The victim's husband -- who was stranded in Sirohi, Rajasthan -- has been sent home with permission from the district magistrate, the officer said.
