BJP's pro-CAA rally blocked by police, Vijayvargiya, Mukul Roy detained
High drama was witnessed in West Bengal on Friday after top BJP leaders, including state party in-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya and Mukul Roy, were detained by police during a rally in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Kolkata.
The pro-CAA rally was being held at Tollygunge in south Kolkata.
According to sources that the BJP leaders were taken into custody as they didn’t have permission to hold the rally.
The BJP wanted to conduct the march allegedly without police permission following which some top party leaders were taken away in a police van, sources added.
