Ayodhya Junction railway station to get new temple-like look
The temple town of Ayodhya has already got a facelift and in the next couple of years, the Ayodhya Junction railway junction will also be revamped to give it a temple-like look. The budget for the same has been increased from Rs 80 crore to 104 crores.
Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted on Sunday: “For the crores of devotees visiting the Ram temple, Railways is redeveloping the Ayodhya station under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
The Ayodhya Junction railway station was earmarked for redevelopment a few years ago, but the redevelopment is yet to begin. Officials said the redevelopment work will start soon.
The idea is to complete redevelopment before the temple construction gets over. The new design will accompany a host of amenities besides the increased capacity to handle bigger crowds.
The redevelopment is being done in two phases. The first phase will see the development of the platform areas and the second will see the erection of a new station building with more toilets, dormitories, ticketing, and circulating areas.
This revamp will be done in anticipation of the increased footfall the city is likely to see once the Ram temple construction is complete.
The redevelopment is also in line with PM Narendra Modi’s vision of positioning the religious tourism sector as a major engine for job creation and a driving force for economic growth.
