Assam reports 735 new coronavirus positive cases in 24 hours, tally crosses 16,800
Assam has detected 735 new positive coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, and the state tally has now surged to 16,806. Out of the new cases, 400 have been reported from Guwahati city.
The state’s death toll stands at 36 after a man with no history of comorbidities died at Jorhat Medical College Hospital after getting infected.
Assam health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said the state had registered 735 fresh Covid-19 positive cases in last 24 hours and out of these 400 cases were detected in Guwahati alone.
The Covid-19 situation in Guwahati seems to have worsened as the capital city registered 4,624 positive cases in the last 9 days.
According to the Assam state Health department, 777 cases were detected in the city on July 4, 552 cases on July 5, 598 cases on July 6, 588 cases on July 7, 423 cases on July 8, 355 cases on July 9, 521 cases on July 10, 410 cases on July 11 and 400 cases on July 12.
Meanwhile, 10,894 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from the hospitals so far. Assam’s Covid-19 recovery rate has now climbed to 64.82 per cent.
