AR Rahman takes a dig at Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria's Masakali 2.0: Enjoy the original
On Wednesday, Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria released their new music video Masakali 2.0. Originally composed by AR Rahman for Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Delhi-6, the new song has been remixed by Tanishk Bagchi.
Ever since Masakali 2.0 has been released, it is receiving negative response from original Masakali fans on Twitter. AR Rahman also took to the micro-blogging platform to take a dig at the remixed version. Sharing a link to his song, he wrote, "Enjoy the original."
Along with the link, he also tweeted a statement which read, "No short cuts, properly commissioned, sleepless nights, writes and re-writes. Over 200 musicians, 365 days of creative brainstorming with the aim to produce music that can last generations. A team of a Director, a Composer and a Lyricist supported by actors, dance directors and a relentless film crew. - Lots of love and prayers A.R. Rahman (sic)."
The original song's lyricist, Prasoon Joshi, also tweeted to express his feelings on the remix. He wrote, "All songs written for #Delhi6 including #Masakali close to heart, sad to see when original creation of @arrahman @prasoonjoshi_&singer @_MohitChauhan insensitively utilised. Upto the conscience of @Tseries. Hopefully the fans will stand for originality. @RakeyshOmMehra (sic)."
