Annaatthe: Release of Rajinikanth and Siruthai Siva film postponed again?
On May 12, a day after Tamil Nadu Government gave permission to resume post-production work, Superstar Rajinikanth surprised his fans by revealing the release date of his upcoming film, Annaatthe. Sun Pictures, the producers of the film, announced on their Twiiter handle that the film will hit the screens on Pongal 2021.
According to the latest reports, the makers have apparently decided to push the release date further due to the extension of lockdown. The film was initially scheduled to hit the screens on Diwali 2020. However, due to the novel coronavirus outbreak, the shoot got postponed and makers thought to release it on Pongal.
Now, sources say that the film will hit the screens in summer 2021, once things get back to normal. An official announcement will be made in the coming weeks.
It is worth mentioning that the the first-look poster of the film was released a few weeks before the lockdown.
Annaatthe is directed by Siruthai Siva and stars many talented actors including Khushbu, Nayanthara, Meena, Keerthy Suresh, Prakash Raj and Soori in important roles. D Imman, who had previously worked with Siruthai Siva in Ajith's Viswasam, has been roped in to compose music for the project.
The film went on floors in December last year and major portions of it were shot in Ramoji Rao Film City, Hyderabad. Keerthy Suresh is rumoured to play the role of Rajinikanth's daughter in the film.
