Anandiben Patel to take oath as caretaker Governor of MP on Wednesday
Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel will be administered the oath of office on Wednesday for discharging duties as the caretaker Governor of Madhya Pradesh. She will serve as Governor till incumbent MP Governor Lalji Tandon’s health improves. Anandiben Patel would be administering the oath of office and secrecy to ministers who are to be inducted in the MP cabinet very soon.
Lalji Tandon is recuperating at a hospital in Lucknow where he underwent surgery some weeks ago.
Raj Bhawan sources said that UP Governor Anandiben Patel would arrive in Bhopal on Wednesday and would be administered the oath by MP Chief Justice Ajay Kumar Mittal.
Anandiben Patel has served as the Governor of Madhya Pradesh before being transferred to Uttar Pradesh.
Sources said that impasse that has prevented the formation of a full cabinet in Madhya Pradesh seems to be ending. Expansion is likely within a day or two after the caretaker Governor takes the oath.
Sources added that while ten ministers are to take oath from the ranks of the 22 Congress MLAs who had resigned to join the BJP, the BJP is unable to finalize names of ministers from among its own ranks. While the Sangh and party are pushing for induction of new faces, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan is keen those close to him and was part of his previous cabinet are retained. Shivraj Singh Chouhan took the oath of office as CM on March 23 and remained without a cabinet till April 21, when five people were sworn in. Since then a full-fledged cabinet has not been formed.
