1 killed, 2 injured in firing by Nepal police near India-Nepal border in Bihar
An Indian was killed and two others injured in alleged firing by Nepal police in Bihar’s Sitamarhi near the India-Nepal border on Friday.
The incident took place at Lalbandi-Janki Nagar border, Mohoba village, under Sonebarsha police station of the district.
One person was killed and two others injured in the firing, Inspector General (IG) of the Sashastra Seema Bal's Patna Frontier, Sanjay Kumar said. He added that the incident took place between locals and the Armed Police Force (APF) of Nepal.
The injured have been taken for treatment.
Officials said the locals had a confrontation with the APF over accessing an area near the international border and later, a scuffle took place between the two sides resulting in firing.
According to the SP, the Nepal police have claimed that they opened fire after a tried to snatch their weapons.
Nepal had closed its international borders on March 22 due to coronavirus pandemic.
